What everything does

The number next to the ⚡ icon is your current memory pressure as a percentage (shown in yellow above 80%). Click the icon for live Memory, Storage and CPU details, refreshed every few seconds. Monitoring is always free.

Runs macOS's native purge to release inactive and cached memory back to the system. Useful when your Mac feels sluggish without restarting anything. macOS may ask for your admin password once.

Asks Time Machine to thin its local snapshots, which is what "purgeable" disk space actually is. macOS then reclaims that space automatically. Shows how much was freed.

Asks Finder to empty the Trash - the same as doing it manually, including any confirmation Finder shows. Items become unrecoverable after this.

Opens the Space Inspector focused on AI storage: Ollama weights, Hugging Face downloads, LM Studio models, Cursor workspace data and Claude Code caches. These are the gigabytes most people forget they have. Scan free; cleaning requires Pro.

Ends runaway development processes - Vite, Next.js, nodemon, esbuild, Wrangler/workerd and friends. The one-click fix for "why is my fan spinning and port 3000 is still busy".

Asks known resource-hungry apps (browsers, Electron apps, IDEs, Docker) to quit. Apps get a chance to close cleanly first; anything stuck is force-quit after a moment. Unsaved work in those apps will be lost - that is the point.

Flushes macOS's DNS cache. Fixes "website won't load but works on my phone" moments after DNS changes. Harmless and instant.

The full sweep: purge memory, empty Trash, thin snapshots, and clear safe user caches in one action. Skips Apple's own caches so nothing system-critical is touched. Reports exactly what it did.

Quits and relaunches Finder. The classic fix when windows or icons misbehave.

Closes every regular app except the one you're using right now - a one-click "focus mode" that reclaims RAM from everything in the background.

The nuclear option: asks all user apps to quit, clears safe user caches and purges memory. Always shows a confirmation first, and never touches protected system processes.

Repeats "Keep Current App · Kill Rest" automatically every 15 seconds - whatever app is frontmost survives, everything else gets closed. Turn it off from the same menu.

Your personal "never close these" list (Shottr, your menu bar tools, etc). Anything on this list is spared by every kill feature. Add your own apps too.

Quality-of-life toggles: tone down macOS animations, launch WTMemory when you log in, and check for new versions manually. Updates are delivered automatically about once a day.

The Inspector scans four areas: AI & LLM bloat (Ollama, Hugging Face, LM Studio, Cursor, Claude caches), Dev & build artifacts (Xcode DerivedData, npm/pnpm/Yarn/Bun/Cargo/Gradle caches), System caches & logs, and App leftovers from apps you already deleted. Scanning and reviewing is always free.

Cleaning moves items to the Trash by default (Safe Mode - fully reversible), or deletes permanently when you untick Safe Mode. Anything you clean re-downloads or rebuilds on demand - WTMemory never touches your documents, projects or code.
